Introduction
Feeling the Durability
Google has its AI, and Samsung has its technology.
Power and Performance
I usually borrow devices from friends to write my reviews, Buying each device is not an option for me because I am not a prominent blogger. But I own a Google Pixel. As a content creator, we are very much dependent on Google. New features and Google services are very much optimized for Google devices. This review consists of my own experience in using both Google Pixel 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy s24 Ultra. I also collected some user reviews from my friends, family and a few strangers.
Both devices are very good. Aesthetically, technologically and performance-wise, very appealing. We are living in good times. By design, I love the Samsung s24 Ultra more. It has a very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing design. A boxy design with no camera bumps. But every individual is different, you may like the new curvy design of the Google Pixel 9 Pro with camera bumps.
I have been using Pixel for a long time and recently upgraded to 9 Pro. I have dropped my device several times, One time its screen protector ( from a third party obviously) chipped. And 9 Pro is easy to hold, and not likely to slip. The S24 ultra has good specs, like gorilla armour glass, and titanium grade 2 frame etc. But I feel a discomfort holding it. And I couldn't feel the same sturdiness from s24 ultra comparing pixels. Holding an s24 ultra feels like you are holding a very delicate structure or a baby. But holding a pixel feels like you are holding a brick that will damage the floor if your hand slips. Maybe I am feeling the price difference.
We can feel the AI enhancement in every aspect of 9 Pro including Cameras, sensors, maps, Responsiveness etc. The device is enhanced and made for AI. On the other hand, Samsung seems to rely on sheer technological advancements, like extraordinary camera performance and ultra-tuned sensors.
Gemini Live is available on both devices and performs equally well. The main difference I noticed when I used the camera on both devices was zooming. S24 Ultra has a 100x zoom. Samsung accomplishes it with its ultra-processing camera sensors. This means you are getting a pic with quality and minimum software interference, 9 Pro only has 30x zoom, but it delivers an immersed experience utilising its AI. This means it gives you high software-processed images. So if you are buying these devices for image and video capturing, the S24 Ultra is the best option. ( I am sorry, none of us have used the Google Add Me feature in Pixel yet)
I don't put a heavy operating load on my phones. I simply don't have any of that kind of Job in my hand to give it to my phone. Pixel is very good at day-to-day tasks, gaming and performance. But the battery will run out faster. Everyone says it is due to the presence of the G4 Processor it has. Google is now producing its motherboards and chips using Samsung foundries, soon they will start producing their chipsets like an apple. So I am hoping that will eliminate the battery problem. On the other hand, the S24 Ultra runs like a horse. You can feel the power and performance. It wont run out as fast 9 Pro does. But remember, the 9 Pro has only 4700 Mah, while the S24 Ultra has 5000 Mah.
I have been using Pixels for a long time, still couldn't figure out the behaviour of its fast-charging technology. If you use a 27-watt charger, you may be able to charge the device from 0 to 55 in 30 minutes. In s24, you can use a 45-watt charger, and reach 65 % in 30 minutes.
Everything else is exactly like it was before. Samsung focuses on its ecosystem boosting via more additional device integrations while Google does it via its software and service enhancements. Pixel 9 Pro starts at 1200 CAD, and s24 ultra starts pricing between 1300 - 1400 CAD.
